REALTORS DONATE PROCEEDS FROM NATIONAL GARAGE SALE TO LOCAL SHELTER

 - NATIONAL GARAGE SALE FOR SHELTER RAISES MORE THAN $300,000 TO HELP ABUSED WOMEN AND CHILDREN ACROSS CANADA - Red Deer , May 18, 2010 –

Royal Lepage Network Realty Corp Realtors raised $4200 this past Saturday, May 15th at the 2nd annual National Garage Sale for Shelter to support CAWES Central Alberta Women’s Shelter and regional violence prevention programs . This Royal LePage Shelter Foundation event is dedicated to ending violence against women and children in communities across Canada.

 We are all doing our part to end domestic violence against women in Central Alberta and providing financial support as well as other essential goods and services to our local shelter . Through the National Garage Sale for Shelter, we are making a difference in our community.

This year over 120 Royal LePage offices across Canada took part in the national event and together raised a record breaking $300,000 to end violence against women and children in communities across Canada. In 2009 the National Garage Sale for Shelter raised $120,000.

With the generous support of our local communities, TD Canada Trust (National Presenting sponsor), Atlas Van Lines Canada (In-kind Moving and Transportation sponsor) and Advance Commission Company of Canada (Major Event sponsor),as well as Sign-O-Rama, Good Earth, Cheryl Kowalsky- Inspire Get ‘er Done Girls, Mortgage Architects, Invis , AG foods , Messinger Meats , Red Neck Rentals, Regional Mortgage, Studon, Jeff Ferguson - Home Safe n’ Sound Inspection Ltd, as well as The Express and Red Deer Advocate, Sunny 94, Big 105, and 106 the Drive and all the rest of the volunters that assissted through out the event this event broke last year’s record and raised more money and awareness than ever before!

Since 1999, the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation has donated over $10 million and has become Canada’s largest public foundation dedicated exclusively to funding women’s shelters and violence prevention programs.

Together, local residents and Royal Lepage Network Realty Realtors donated household items to raise funds and awareness of to end family violence. “The funds raised from the garage sale will make such a difference to women and children experiencing domestic violence,” says Tara Heppell. “This not only provides our organization with much-needed financial support, but it brings our community together.”

Each of over 600 Royal LePage locations are encouraged to partner with a local women's shelter. This type of partnership can offer much-needed financial support to local shelters, as well as other needed goods and services. Funds raised by the local Royal LePage offices remain in their local community. Local efforts benefit local shelters, and because Royal LePage pays the costs of administration, 100% of all money and effort goes toward the cause.
